The Creators
Mia Kuartei @rockislandgirl8 (Fall 2014, Spring & Fall 2015) is currently a full-time graduate student at UAS (MEd candidate in Learning Design and Technology) and originally from Palau, a small island nation in the Western Pacific. She earned her undergraduate degrees in International Studies and Secondary Education - Social Studies from Taylor University, and after teaching and working in curriculum development has spent the last 11 years working in Community and Youth Development Programs in Seattle and San Francisco. Mia lives in Sitka, Alaska with her husband, an active duty U.S. Coast Guard member.

Scott Roleff (Givercraft Spring 2015 & Fall 2015) is a high school math teacher at Chugiak High School in the Anchorage School District. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in exercise physiology. He also holds a law enforcement certificate from the University of Alaska. Scott is currently working on his master’s degree in Educational Technology. When he is not teaching, he is either playing guitar, hiking in the mountains with his wife and dogs, or cruising the scenic highways in Alaska on his motorcycle.

Amanda Shaw (Givercraft Fall 2014 & Spring 2015) is a first grade teacher at Bayshore Elementary in Anchorage, Alaska. Amanda grew up in Valdez, Alaska and graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a degree in Elementary Education. Amanda is currently working on completing her master’s in Educational Technology. Amanda loves to use technology in the classroom and create a fun learning environment for her students.

Alison Gryga (Givercraft Spring 2015) is an Instructional Technology Teacher for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. She has an Elementary Education degree with a minor in middle school math from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Alison is currently working on her master’s in Educational Technology. When Alison is not teaching or learning about technology, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Matthew Stark (Givercraft Spring 2015) is a Technology Integration Specialist for the Lake and Peninsula School District. He has a Elementary Education degree from Sheldon Jackson College. A master's in Educational Technology from the University of Alaska Southeast, a graduate certificate in Special Education from the University of Alaska Southeast. Matthew is currently working on a graduate certificate in Distance and e-Learning from UAS. When Matthew is not teaching he likes being outdoors, biking, hiking, traveling, taking photos, and creating art (even if he feels like is not good at it).

ThanhTam Nguyen (Givercraft Spring 2015) is a Middle School math teacher for Bering Strait School District on St. Lawrence Island at Hogarth Kingeekuk Memorial School in Savoonga. She has a Master Degree in Cross-Cultural Education from National University, California and a Master Degree in Mathematics from University of Alaska Southeast. ThanhTam is currently attending University of Alaska Southeast to learn about Distance and e-Learning. Her long term goal is to help rural students in how to be successful in Distance Online courses.
